Tsuen Wan - Xia Mian Guan - No Service

Arrive Tsuen Wan at around nine with no dinner at all, we were quite hungry and just wanna have some casual dining, thus went to the Xia Mian Guan. Those servers were concentrating on their chat rather than the customers. We thus choose our seat, there are some Citibank credit card discount and set for 2, but the price actually is not worthy, so we tend to choose our own dishes and with the same price as set. 

Cold Dish Sampler included the smoked egg, wheat gluten kofu, marinated Shanghai vegetable, crystal flour sheet and string bean. The semi-liquid egg yolk with strong smoked taste and the texture were not bad, but the peanut sauce for crystal flour sheet was quite bitter. I like the string bean the most among these five cold dishes.

There was large amount of full milk or cream used in the Braised Cabbage with Chinese Ham, it was too rich and creamy, and we’d better order the sautéed cabbage next time. Stewed Noodle with Dried Shrimp and Spring Onion served in a big portion and the dried spring onion with a bit salty and sweet with a strong taste, it was nice after mixing with the plain noodle. It was my favorite dish tonight.

We ordered the Pan-fried Pork Dumpling at last and it came within 1 minute, the first impression was “it mustn’t be the great one”. No golden base, the dumpling skin was burst. And using the Citibank credit card we add extra $10 to have a Braised tofu with crab meat and crab roe, I thought it was a steamed tofu with a crab roe paste on top, but it was likely to be a soup, with sour and strong ginger taste to minimize the crab roe offensive smell, no good and never had it again.

Service was bad and the foods were just fair, it’s my first time visit this branch and I trust it should be the last time. Due to the noodle and cold dishes, I give it as OK
